The fool’s silt and sand are not at all the solid bedrock of a wise foundation of stone. Whatever knowledge the fool may have, it is always minimized by his resistance to being taught. God wants men to fear Him (having a loving reverence for Him) but the natural man responds with hatred for His wisdom, for the control He exacts on their lives.
On June 3, 2011 I was taken to the hospital by ambulance having suffered a stroke. I remained at two hospitals and on-site therapy for about 6 weeks. I was paralyzed on the right side. The Lord remained with me, I felt little fear, and He graciously healed me. He also gave strength to keep His testimonies. All praises to Him. I now walk and talk normally, i may not get the use of all of my right hand back. Although I am week, i have restored over half of our previous street ministry work.
I have often thought about the day I committed the rest of my life to Christ (July 28, 2000). I was a nominal Christian. I had been a federal worker in Washington D.C., a career army officer in the Transportation Corps, an expert in contracting and contract law, an advisor to the Pentagon in the development of career standards for all levels of contracting personnel in the Department of Defense, an advisor to the Defense Acquisition University, and a principle oversight manager for the Pentagon’s Head of all Department of Defense Contracting. Those are fancy words, and even my ex-coworkers tuning in to this letter will not understand the words, may even chuckle. They were just things in life that men do as they move forward, some of it providential certainly, and much of it a “luck of the draw,” perhaps, and even to an extent, more unfortunate than fortunate. And at the bottom line, hardly anything we do in this life outside of serving Christ will even begin to compare with a single moment of labor that magnifies Him and invests in the harvest of souls. Even two masters degrees in business and government plus many hours of graduate school in educational psychology do not but seem meaningless at this point in life. And outstanding reputations in chess and bridge championship competition -- with their high national ratings -- are, as Paul says, but dung. Twice-bitten in love, an unhappy childhood, and a bit of time on the pill-milling leather couch isn’t a particularly pretty part of this life either. What is life but a vapor, anyway? And am I not in the final turning of time on a pilgrimage, marching to Zion, a child of the most High God and servant to His beloved Son? Although it has been a tough trek, the Bible proved itself at every step, and the Savior never once forsook while all men did, as they did Paul. I salute my enemies, for many of you I will never speak to again, and while it breaks my heart, I love what Jesus loves and hate what He hates. “Behold, he cometh with clouds; and every eye shall see him, and they also which pierced him: and all kindreds of the earth shall wail because of him. Even so, Amen.” (Revelation 1:7) One day those that hated Jesus will have to explain themselves. And those of us who love Him will be very glad when their mouths are stopped and they take one last bow to Him whom they in all the ages crucified, then the long-awaited justice will be served, and Heaven will open up into all eternity. What a moment in glory when the Spirit and theBride say, Come!
